Smash Your Opponents: A First Look at The Hulk in MTG x Marvel Super Heroes!
If you haven’t heard the thunderous rumblings shaking the tables here at The Hidden Lair, let’s catch you up: Marvel Super Heroes is officially crossing over with Magic: The Gathering!
As Central Illinois' hub for all things tabletop, we are already losing our minds over the brewing possibilities. Bringing the iconic characters of the Marvel Universe into the strategic depth of MTG is a dream mashup. While the Multiverse is full of legendary heroes, today we are focusing on a card that is bound to leave a massive crater in the meta.
Let's take a look at the Jade Giant himself.
Card Feature: The Incredible Hulk
When looking at the raw mechanics of this card, it screams pure, unadulterated power. This version of the Jade Giant isn't just a heavy hitter—it's a game-ending threat that forces your opponents to rethink their entire strategy the second it hits the battlefield. Looking at how these abilities chain together, its massive presence on the table isn't just a boast; it's an absolute promise of destruction.

(Note: He also appears to be a double-faced transforming card, starting as a 1/1 creature on the reverse side!)
Why This Card is an Absolute Monster:
-
The Baseline Statline: A Gruul-colored
{2}{R}{R}{G}{G}for an 8/8 with Reach and Trample is already a massive threat that demands an answer. He blocks fliers, and he tramples over chump-blockers. -
The Ultimate Enrage Mechanic: Old-school Ixalan fans know how fun Enrage can be, but The Hulk takes it to a cosmic level. If you ping him, he gets bigger. If you ping him while he’s attacking, he untaps, grows, and grants you an additional combat phase.
-
The Synergy: Imagine pairing him with self-damaging spells or fight mechanics. You can essentially chain combat phases together until your opponent's life total is reduced to green dust.
Synergizing the Smash: World War Hulk
Lets take a look at an accompanying Saga card: World War Hulk.

Costing {3}{G}{G}, this Saga is designed to cheat out massive threats and force devastating engagements:
-
Chapter I: Allows you to cast your next red or green creature spell this turn for free. (Perfect for dropping The Hulk himself without paying that restrictive 6-mana cost!)
-
Chapter II: Places three +1/+1 counters on a target creature you control to build up your board.
-
Chapter III: Forces a target creature you control to fight an opponent's creature, doubling its power and giving it indestructible for the turn.
If you use Chapter III to make an attacking Hulk fight a blocker, you will trigger his Enrage ability, double his power, keep him indestructible, and trigger a whole new combat phase. That is how games end.
