Congratulations to our champions: Your top finishes, strategic brilliance, and consistent play have set the pace for the rest of the field. We’re proud to have such talented racers at The Hidden Lair!

Over the past several weeks, The Hidden Lair has transformed every Friday night into a pulse-pounding, card-flipping, chocobo-charging spectacle.  Players from all around Decatur have gathered to test their mettle, sharpen their decks, and race for glory in the Chocobo Race Series — our Final Fantasy-themed Friday Night Magic draft event.

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

Week 1 – June 13, 2025

Our inaugural event kicked off with six determined racers.

• Alan Kershner flew to victory with a 3-0 sweep and 75% Game Win Percentage.

• Dylan Van Horn and Becker Becker tied up the middle with solid 2-1 finishes.

• Standout stat: Connor Lingard faced the hardest matchups with a 70.4% Opponent Match Win %, showing grit against tough competition.

🎉 This was more than just a game night — it was a celebration with custom tokens, prizes, and a great start to the series.

Week 2 – June 20, 2025

With a full pod of eight, competition hit a new gear.

• Dylan Van Horn roared to the top with another 3-0 finish and a 75% GW%.

• Evan Kershner and Player One shared second place honors, both at 2-1.

• Alan Kershner battled tough opponents with a 77.8% OMW%, showing he's always a contender.

• David Barr came in strong with a 62.5% GW%, even at 4th.

🧠 Strategy and sportsmanship continued to define the event, making it clear this wasn’t just a one-time crowd.

Week 3 – June 27, 2025

Things got serious — and exciting.

• Jarrod Foster stormed onto the scene with an undefeated 3-0 and a reputation for clutch control and clean board states.

• Evan Kershner matched Jarrod’s perfect record with a higher GW%, showing off bold plays and fearless drafting.

• Alan Kershner and David Barr each stayed consistent with 2-1 finishes.

• Dylan Van Horn continued facing elite opponents and showed resilience through it all.

🔍 The meta evolved this week with players adjusting strategies, tightening win percentages, and showing off increasingly creative deck builds.

• Consistency is king. The top performers aren’t just winning — they’re adapting fast.

• Opponent Match Win % (OMW%) and Game Win % (GW%) are shaping the standings, not just match records.
