Hobby Tuesday Highlights – August 5th, 2025
Hobby Tuesday brought the heat yesterday—figuratively and literally! As summer winds down, our community’s creativity and passion for miniatures, painting, and tabletop games are still blazing.
Whether you were priming your latest Warhammer unit, diving into a new RPG module, or just enjoying good company while basing terrain pieces, here’s a recap of all the fun.
🎨 Painting in Full Swing
Our hobby tables were packed with painters of all experience levels. Some standout moments included:
-
Custom Color Mixes using Vallejo and Army Painter paints. We had a few newcomers discover just how forgiving wet palettes can be.
-
One hobbyist debuted a near-complete Horus Heresy diorama—complete with weathered armor, scorched earth, and a beautifully grimdark vibe.
-
The Paint & Take Table was popular again—young crafters and first-timers got their hands on free minis and learned some dry brushing techniques from our regulars.
🛠️ Tips Shared, Progress Made
We always say: Hobby Tuesday isn’t just about finishing—it’s about starting, learning, and sharing. Some helpful hobby tips that came out of the night:
-
Using sponge weathering on armor to create battle damage without overpainting.
-
The "zenithal prime + contrast paint" method continues to wow new hobbyists for speed and visual impact.
-
3D print talk was alive and well, especially around cleaning and prepping resin minis before priming.
Community Vibes & Chill
And of course—it wouldn’t be Hobby Tuesday without the good vibes:
-
We shared snacks, swapped bits, and talked shop about upcoming events.
-
Several folks stayed late chatting about the upcoming Warhammer previews and Magic: The Gathering set rumors.
-
A reminder: bring your own snacks or support our neighboring local spots—we love the collab energy!
See You Next Week!
If you missed this Tuesday, don’t worry—Hobby Tuesday is every week at The Hidden Lair. Come as you are, bring what you’re working on, or grab a fresh mini from the wall. Our tables are open, our paints are stocked, and our community is ready to welcome you.
Stay crafty. Stay kind. See you next Tuesday!
